Podcast Production

Case Study

Big Poppas

In the fall of 2018, I began producing an audio series about my experiences as a first time father. Big Poppas: The Podcast For Modern Dads is a passion project that has brought me immeasurable enjoyment in examining the role I consider my most important by far. Along with my co-host and fellow poppa Pierre Hamilton, I have discussed countless parenting topics, interviewed dads, moms and experts alike, learned more about myself and hopefully passed a few useful tips on to listeners.

Through three seasons’ worth of episodes, I have spearheaded all facets of the show and discovered a great deal about an art form and industry with tremendous growth potential. Beginning with the task of programming each episode's guests and themes, my role as producer has involved scheduling, budgeting, extensive research, outreach to interview subjects and sponsors, coordination with engineering staff, editing, post production, publishing and promotion.

My favourite thing about the podcasting medium is the connection that can be made with listeners. Audio programs are typically accessed directly through headphones or car stereos, bringing the voice of a host into a listener's ears with profound clarity. Knowing full well the strength of this delivery method from my years of experience as a podcast fan, I've made it my mission to enhance the levels of intimacy, kinship and entertainment with each episode I've produced.

I remain invigorated by my expansion into producing audio content for other creators, applying all I've learned from Big Poppas to the amplifying of essential voices in any number of fields. From low budget in-house programming to full scale studio production, my comprehensive skills and heartfelt commitment to quality output make me the ideal collaborator to make any podcasting vision a reality.
